The Ending

So, the ending... What did everyone think? I yelled when I finished the book. The book was really good though. Probably the best i have read for a school project in a long time.

the ending kind of ruined the whole book for me, just as i was starting to enjoy it too.

I thought it was kind of depressing. They should have built and arc with 2 of every kind of crop they had... The book was alright. I mean it was boring but it had it good points too.

I really liked the book. I thought that everything was leading up to a huge ending, but in the end it just flooded, the family was broken up, and they were just as hopeless as ever....

I didn't particularly care for the ending, and I'll admit I didn't really like the book either. But I enjoy Steinbeck's writing style and he's really good at making a story filled with hidden meanings and mini-stories

Were we reading the same book? The "best I have read for a school project in a long time"?? No, it tops the worst book list. I thought it was stupid, gross, frustrating, pessimistic, and sad. The characters had few redeeming qualities, the story was barely a story, people came and went from it, and the turtle never came back.

I liked the ending to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest better. That says a lot.

I agree with Ali. I did't like the book to begin with and the fact that the characters came and went like that really frustrated me. Then the ending made me want to throw the book out the window or let my dogs eat. I hate books that just stop like that unless there is a reason like a sequal or something.

I think people should be allowed to have their own opinions. I liked the book, but I agree that it lacked some things.

I agree with ekl, I thought it was a good book...I really liked the story because I love history stories like that, but because of the length of some of the chapters and the length of the book it took too long to read. But I did think the book was enjoyable...well for the most part.
