DISAPPOINTING!!!

Why didn't the turtle come back?! This made me sad! Poor turtle....I wonder what happened to the poor little guy...was his parallel just dropped off after chapter 3, or did Steinbeck just forget about the turtle after that?

I think I would have liked the book more if the turtle had come back. He was my favorite metaphor....

Maybe it drowned in the flood?

Since we're so into symbolism... maybe the dying man was the reincarnation of the turtle

GUYS! THINK! Where did we last see the turtle (yes, it was the same turtle)?

See my last post...come on, dig deep!

I think Steinbeck was probably just using the turtle to forshadow what was going to happen in the book and nothing else.

"They was on'y one thing to do-ever-an' we done it." ma this to pa in the last chapter, and she was right; with all this crazy stuff happening in oklahoma, they pretty much had no other choice but to start moving. The turtle is this way too; it encounters all of these obstacles but just keeps going.

hahah i was right the only reason steinbeck put the turtle in the stor is because he has a turtle fetish...no i think that the turtle had some symbolism...it showed that during the depression life was hard for the animals too.
