This your forum for discussion. Although I will toss in questions, I will expect you to be the main contributors to the blog. You are expected to post and comment at least twice (1x each) every time we are in the lab as a class. Naturally, you are required to keep comments germane to the novel and to treat your classmates' opinions with respect. Have fun.

I have thought a lot about the turtle. I thought it was going to be like a theme throughout the book, but he seems to be gone!
Actually, I thought he was going to be a motif. My bad.
oh he'll be back....lol the turtle always comes back
Are you foreshadowing for us, Court? Have you read ahead?
Thanks court. I was looking forward to reading further but now I know whats gonna happen so I guess I won't
I like turtles! they're cute.
I too thought the turtle was going to be a big part in the story. Kinda as a second story to create a metaphor of what's going on in the dust bowl.
I spent way too long wondering about the turtle. How is his struggle symbolic to that of the Joads. Motif! a reoccurring theme! anywho. Maybe the turtle will make a final entrance toward the end of the novel. or like if the Joads come across another big struggle (as if the book isn't depressing enough already).
I know!! I've really been missing the turtle too, and to think I thought he was going to be a major part of the book. At least there hasn't been anymore sad stories about people trying to run him over...but I do hope that the turtle will return soon!
Was there more to the turtle than just the turtle? Remember where he ended up? Or at least we can assume that is the same turtle...
I don't remember... could someone refresh me?
i'm going to laugh if Steinbeck just put the turtle in the book because he likes turtles, and it has no deeper meaning. And here we are trying to find some deeper meaning to the turtle.
There's definitely a deeper meaning in the turtle. Whether or not he reappears has yet to be determined.
I doubt that courtcourt has read ahead...it is much more likely that she just likes turtles.
hmmm...where oh where could the turtle be??
