This your forum for discussion. Although I will toss in questions, I will expect you to be the main contributors to the blog. You are expected to post and comment at least twice (1x each) every time we are in the lab as a class. Naturally, you are required to keep comments germane to the novel and to treat your classmates' opinions with respect. Have fun.

I think the car salesman better represents just how poor people are and what they are willing to do for money.
Do you think that the car salesman is merely the personification of the corruption of humanity (especially in a time of crisis) and the greed the sustains the corrupted?
i think it is just Steinbeck showing what the era was like and how hard times were.
i think it just shows how people are willing to exploit their peers during hard times just to make a living...suvival of the fittest and all that. sort of like the tractor driver or whoever...looking out for his family first.
In my opinion, Steinbeck is using the car salesman as another personification of corruption and greed. As with the preacher, Steinbeck seems to be saying something negative about human nature in general.
I felt so bad for the people buying the cars. I mean these people gave up every thing they had just so they could by a car so they could go out west, and the cars they were buying were complet pieces of junk. these people were completly taken advantage of. It just show how a lot of people are just looking out for them selves and will do what ever it takes to get rich quick
