This your forum for discussion. Although I will toss in questions, I will expect you to be the main contributors to the blog. You are expected to post and comment at least twice (1x each) every time we are in the lab as a class. Naturally, you are required to keep comments germane to the novel and to treat your classmates' opinions with respect. Have fun.

well, Tom has been away from his family for four years. he also would have to wait three years before he could go find his family in order not to break his parole. i don't think he wants to stay in a place full of memories that also has nothing to offer him for a long period of time.
I agree I think he just wants to be with his family and doesn't care about breaking his parole
Well, there's nothing left for him at home. No job, no family, no house, nothing. The family also doesn't worry too much about following the law. They are willing to break small laws, like jumping parole and burying a body without reporting the death. They just don't consider it a big deal to break the law if following it is inconvenient or troublesome. They just think that if no one gets hurt, no big deal
I think that he might be betting on the fact that there are many, many people migrating to California. Once he's there, the police will probably have a hard time finding him.
Honestly, i would do the same. You have to do what you think is right and not what the law tells you to do. I mean the law is good to follow, bu sometimes it can be a bit too...I don't know the word. But he has been away from his family for 4 years, it's not like they doing anything bad, just going to a better place.
It also doesn't seem like there's really anyone left to report him. They probably don't even know he's on parole or that he's back.
Tom feels as though he needs to stay with the family because they need all the help they can get. Not to mention he knows his mother wants him to be with the family.
Tom has no other choice than to go with his family. There is nothing left for him in Oklahoma and he seems to be the glue holding his family together on this journey. Tom has to put family over the law in this situation and go to Cali.
