House
Okay, I know this is sort of from a while back in the book.... but the very first paragraph of Chapter 6 (page 54) describes a "small unpainted house...mashed at one corner, and...pushed off its foundations so that it slumped at an angle." Is this the very same house described in the other part of the story, the one without Joad? The one that was run over by the bulldozer? Or is it just a similar situation?

i'm pretty sure it is the same house. i think that other chapter was all about the Joads...
I'm pretty sure it's the same house... They even talk about the guy on the tractor and how Tom (the old one) went and got his gun, but only shot the tractor (not the driver). It's supposed to be implied that it's the same house.
I was thinking about the same thing. But then I thought, the kids looking at the guy eating the sandwich with the spam were young kids and Old Tom doesn't have any your kids, only Al who is 16.
I think you might be right, Kitsune. I thought that it was the same situation, but what you're saying makes sense.
well, then who are the owners of the house?

okay, well I read on and in chapter 7 somewhere it verifies that is it the same house.....
